Nagaland is placed at 24th spot in the SKOCH State of Governance Report 2024. The state is reflecting focused efforts toward improvement and good governance.
The state performed only marginally better than the other states in its league but its dedication for development and public services in post-covid period is reflective of their persistence to improve.
A significant achievement for Nagaland is its 2nd national ranking in the Forest category, a clear recognition of its environmental governance. Additionally, the state ranks 13th in District Governance, highlighting ongoing efforts at the grassroots level. These rankings underscore the state's growing potential in sustainable development and decentralised administration.
Since 2017, the Nagaland Forest Management Project (NFMP) has been tackling forest degradation while nurturing livelihoods.
Crucially, NFMP places the local community at its core, forming self-help groups, offering soft loans and delivering skill training to foster entrepreneurship.
Water conservation structures, village infrastructure and convergence with government schemes have further cemented trust and participation.
