Goa, though relatively small in size, is trying to make its presence felt in national governance and fiscal metrics. The state ranks 25th nationally in the SKOCH State of Governance Report 2024.

The state of governance in the state of Goa is also influenced by its size and economy. However, irrespective of that, the state has been doing dedicated work towards welfare and ease of accessibility for its people.

Goa achieved a notable comeback by ranking 5th in the General Administration category after drawing a blank in 2023. This indicates potential in administrative governance, though broader engagement across departments is needed.

To ensure sustainable growth, Goa must diversify its own revenue sources, strengthen capital expenditure planning and adopt targeted reforms to control debt. Launched in 2020, the Swayampurna Goa Programme aims to make the state truly self-reliant by ensuring that no citizen is left unaware or underserved.
