India 2047 - Centre of Excellence

The SKOCH India 2047 Centre of Excellence was formally formed in 2023 to work on emerging dimensions of Digital India and conduct deep research on global indices, as well as to create Indian indices that could also benchmark global indices, corporates, as well as governments. Based on the basic tenets of Corporate Digital Responsibility (CDR), the India 2047 - Centre of Excellence further worked on creating Responsibility Frameworks across domains in dialogue and consultation with academic institutions, think tanks, industry bodies, self-regulatory organisations and industry.

After studying the Top-10 economies across EGDI, HDI, Global Hunger Index, Gender Inequality Index, Global Gender Gap Index and Sovereign Rating, a discussion paper on EGDI was published. Overall, it is a work in progress that India as a whole should benefit from. This was widely disseminated through the mainline media to seek input from experts and other stakeholders.

Work Done

The CoE has created a number of Indian Indices such as:

  • Financial Prudence Index
  • eGovernment Infrastructure Index
  • Government Efficiency Index
  • Government Transformation Index
  • State of Development Index

These are published as the States of Viksit Bharat report.

The India 2047 - Centre of Excellence has also studied Indian corporates, including banking, financial services and insurance, finding a significant capacity gap in ESG reporting, which, if left unattended, could create new trade barriers for India.

The Academic Collaborators to the India 2047 - Centre of Excellence include Research and Information Systems for Developing Countries (RIS); School of Public Policy, OP Jindal Global University; Jindal Law School, OP Jindal Global University; School of Psychology, OP Jindal Global University; National Drug Development Treatment Centre, AIIMS; and, National Law University, Bengaluru.

Institutional Collaborators included the Federation of Indian Small and Medium Enterprises (FISME); and, Sa-Dhan.

It was formally participated in by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) and Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY).

In addition, a number of policy and research papers have been written and published under the aegis of the India 2047 - Centre of Excellence. These include areas such as:
